And by the way, I highly recommend the book mentioned " Communication and power" by Manuel Castells is a very fat book but each page is worth its weight in gold. Reading this book did much to help me with Human Journalism or taking sides recently against attacks that Avaaz suffered by a media giant (any input welcome).
