Last Tuesday unveiled at the National Library of Chile's ruling on IV Premio Planeta-Casa de América. The delivery of this perm was scheduled for March last year at Valparaiso in the V Congress of the English language, but was postponed because of the earthquake that struck northern Chile in the days before the Congress.
This year, the winning has been the days of the rainbow, the Chilean writer Antonio Skarmeta (Antofagasta, 1940). The novel focuses on the 1988 referendum, after which Pinochet was forced to leave the Palacio de la Moneda and thus reached Chile democracy. The rainbow referred to the novel's title refers to the colors used to symbolize not the supporters of this referendum. Its protagonist is based on the figure of a former professor of Skarmeta and actor Roberto Parada, who while performing in a play in 1985 he received the news of the death of his son at the hands of the dictatorship and decided to continue the representation in memory of him. He dedicated the book.
On rainbow be published in May in Spain and several Latin American countries simultaneously. A soon try to have it in our library.
