The British novelist Julian Barnes has won the David Cohen Literature Prize for a whole work, which has a biennial basis and is worth 40,000 pounds (46,000 euros). The winner receives another award at the same time bearing the name of Clarissa Luard and is in turn endowed with 12,500 pounds (14,370 euros) which can give the organization related to the literature of their choice.
The author of "Flaubert's Parrot" and "Arthur and George," about an incident in the life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, has decided to donate the second prize to an organization dedicated to helping young offenders to learn writing and reading.
Barnes, 65, a finalist three times Booker Prize, takes place in the list of winners of the David Cohen-known authors such as VS Naipaul, Harold Pinter, Muriel Spark, Doris Lessing and Seamus Heaney. / ABC Cultural / LIVDUCA
